Courage

Courage is the ability to accept the way you are, every time and all the time. Let’s take this scenario from the movie Ta ra rum pum: Xai: Why can't the parents tell the kids that they are broke? Do they think that the kids can’t understand and handle the truth? WW: Well, it’s not a question of whether the kids can understand or not, but the parents cannot handle the truth and hence are afraid and think the kids can’t handle it. That’s the truth of the matter - Most often than not, when we hold back an opinion or camouflage a situation to sound "politically right" or just “stay quiet”, thinking the other person cannot handle the truth, the reality of the fact is that, we do not have the courage to face it up, and really deal with it, and pass it off as the other person not ready to handle it. Well, an argument can be made, that it’s not always that way with all - I disagree - the fact that you thought about some person with regards to a matter, is proof enough that pers...

Acts of Mischief

Genuine repentance for acts of mischief should not be encouraged ~ Xai 2007

Antidote to the cosmo bride

Well, well, well . . . this post definetly deserved a proper response, and here it comes. Question 1:Are you very attached to your mom? Answer : Now that you are cornered into being affirmative of your stand, and losing ground for your future, you need to deal with this with a lil unattached, impersonal stance. Give the smartest smile, and break into a gooey but steady gaze - the trick is, if you are the good looking guy - the smile and the steady gaze will cloud the real response - so every answer will be a good one. If you are cheated by mother Earth on looks, well, you see you have nothing really to lose, the girl is not yours to start with, so go ahead and get martyrdom . Hmm , well, its a lil funny- I mean not your question ( 1 ooo brownie points ), but my view on it ( 1 Million Brownie points ). I do not know about my early days, but ever since I saw my mom through my adolescent years, I started to appreciate how wonderful a woman can be! - a friend, a teacher, a counsello...

Quest!

Thats the word that rings in my head at this time! - Quest the way I understood - Search for something, but this quest itched my head to lookup the dictionary, and Ahem! - What a description - "A search for an alternative that meets cognitive criteria". Now that's something that I like - Did another thing - searched my blog for 'quest' and was suprised @ the results. Each of the blogs are titled differently, but today, I would give them these titles: The Skeptic - I would call this blog, The Quest for the Quest There is immense beauty in imperfection! - The Quest for Imperfection Flipped Mirrors - The Quest for a Reason to Faith! The Indulgent Mind - So More and No More! - The Ultimate Quest - Flirting on the edge of the Indulgent Mind is tolerance in a platonic relationship; perseverance in romance, patience in courting, ambition in a career, faith in (a relationship with) God. Point in fact - all the words – tolerance, perseverance, patience, ambition, fait...

The Indulgent Mind - So More and No More!

This blog is dedicated to my dear friend, who calls herself 'the goddess'. One who chooses to be an indulgent pessimist, but an absoulte optimist at heart. It keeps on ringing - so very often, in every one’s mind – “ So More and No More ”, the lines are continually drawn – a line that somehow just about dictates an invisible boundary. It’s a boundary that ‘the will’ imposes and it’s the boundary ‘the will’ is teased to cross. Flirting on the edge of the Indulgent Mind is tolerance in a platonic relationship; perseverance in romance, patience in courting, ambition in a career, faith in (a relationship with) God. Point in fact - all the words – tolerance, perseverance, patience, ambition, faith are the 5 pillars of something I would call the “Big Quest”. So what is this “Big Quest” that pushes the indulgent mind into the foray? Dormant in the deepest recesses of the “ cerebellum - the cradle of an ever evolving self ”, are the impressions made right from the time; you are st...

Things that fail are over-managed and under-led

If only I replaced the word “ Things ”, with a word like “ Organizations ” or “ Relationships ”, it would have ‘won’ a better acceptance. Why is that we cannot accept the fact that - Things that fail are over-managed and under-led . To start with, we have invested a great deal of time and energy (Ya that’s the word); to take control of things and ‘make’ them happen. In the process, of ‘making’ things happen, we loose the sense of wonder and awe, that is so vital to fortifying the good feel about what we do. No wonder, now ‘make love’, ‘work in a relationship’, ‘have an agenda for a coffee’, ‘define levels of freedom (ah! this is the worst)’, ‘intent becomes important than the gesture’ and ‘quality of life more important that living itself’. Battling with the ever growing age, and 20 odd years of learning, we have already lost a major sense of awe and wonder. The normal no more excites, the chirping of the bird is too shrill to be noticed, and a simple smile renders to an analysis of th...

“A short Term View” Vs. “A Long Term View”–Part 2

The problem with a sequel is that, if be-rifts an open acceptance, and imposes a benchmark, many a times which is in the mind of the reader – John, -2006 Here comes my part 2 of this blog. God Well, he knows all things, eternity to eternity. Some how, many a time, God seems so real – you can feel him, guide you and he is there in every step of your way – and some times, you just feel that He is up there; a real long way up. Times when we look back and count the many blessings God has bestowed on you, we are puffed with a deep sense of satisfaction, and in the next moment – dismiss God out of our life, when a simple thing that you wanted did not happen. These simple words in a prayer sum it all (adapted from RZIM) Human Prays: Your ways mystified me O lord, Oh Yes, in some journeys I feel you all the way, never doubted, but sometime you seem to vanish half way of that journey. At other times, you appear to me in the very last moment and you know Lord, sometimes I actually fear that you ...

“A short Term View” Vs. “A Long Term View”–Part 1

It’s the oscillation that keeps the air moving, the fluctuation that keeps the heart throbbing, and it’s the non-constancy of things that make them interesting. One thing that’s absolute is that - the variables of an absolute paradigm are relative. Many a time, we look at things from quote-unquote perspectives called “A Short Term View” and “A long Term View”. The interplay of these two views juggle us up with some of our deepest desires, wants, needs, goals and influence how we react, talk and behave at a moment of time. A simple conflict of these views unleashes a plethora of emotions, events and shape up what we are. I want to deal with this topic on 4 planes: Career, Family, God and Relationships (In alphabetical Order) Career Ahem!...at last you got the one Job you cherished for, and have landed in the “dream” job that goes in line with your over all aspirations, your Large Grander plan and fills your lungs with excess air to make you give those big Sighs of jubilation or relief ....

What is that we look for, while on our stint on this earth?

Black boy in Chicago Playing in the street Not near enough to wear Not near enough to eat Don't you know he saw it On a July afternoon He saw a man named ArmstrongWalk upon the moon Young girl in Calcutta Barely eight years old The flies that swarm the market place Will see she don't get old Don't you know she heard it On that July afternoon She heard a man named Armstrong Had walked upon the moon The rivers are getting dirty The wind is getting bad War and hate are killing off The only earth we have But the world all stopped to watch it On that July afternoon To watch a man named Armstrong Walk upon the moon And I wonder if a long time ago Somewhere in the universe They watched a man named Adam Walk upon the earth - Nanci Griffith What is it that makes it so important of our stint on EARTH?There is a whole universe that watches us, right from the moment we step on the Earth – There is rejoicing in Heaven of another soul being born, bubbled joys in the family of a new born ...

Connected world……

Image
Adam was wandering lone in the Garden of Eden, and God Said “Let me make him a partner”, and Voila, Eve Comes, and ever since Man and Woman ‘Connected’. What a wonderful beginning! – Except that it was different – Only one man and one woman to connect with. Though the old Joke goes – One day – Adam was wandering for a long time and came real late back to the tree house – and EVE was all fuming and angry, and suspected that – Adam was having an affair! Adam: Honey, how can this be possible? There is no other woman on earth other than you. How can I have an affair? Eve: Even then, I feel jealous. I am sure you have someone around Eventually they slept with their backs to each other, and in the deep of the night – Eve wakes up and starts counting the number of Ribs on Adam. And ever since, Man and Woman have connected, cherished the connection and gave “birth” to jealousy, fear (of losing the connect), and nurtured possessiveness. Now … some 6000 yrs later, with roughly about 3 billion ...

Brand Fatigue in Relationships

This is dedicated to my dear friend – Arjun – Thanks pal "It's like [being] a freighter at sea - it takes a little while to know that you're in trouble and then to turn the beast around." So says Karl Moore, professor of marketing strategy at the Faculty of Management, McGill University Hold on for a minute! Brand fatigue is a Marketing / Strategy term, what has it got to do with ‘Relationships?”. Well let me take you through the “brand” ride. What exactly is Brand Fatigue? – blah..blah..blah.. and the answer I remember copying from who ever sitting before me in my Marketing Exam (oh, I was the first guy in the row ..whatever) – everyone has some brand that they cherish, wanted to always sport or own the brand, use it so long, and irrespective of the fact that there is no other to replace, you just get tired and.. voila you switch brands. How close does this come to us, looking at relationships! There is that one special person you cherish, admire so much, that you end...
