I, therefore, will to love you!

Love is as much as a subject of one’s will, as it is,
as much as a subject of one’s emotion or feeling.

That’s a rather outlandish statement to make – especially in the new age of ‘enlightenment’. Quoting Immanuel Kant on enlightenment - Enlightenment is man's release from his self-incurred tutelage. Tutelage is man's inability to make use of his understanding without direction from another. Self-incurred is this tutelage when it’s cause lies not in lack of reason but in lack of resolution and courage to use it without direction from another. Sapere aude! "Have courage to use your own reason!" - That is the motto of enlightenment.

Read this with a calm and easy mind -

  1. Love is (made) subject to the will, (you choose to consciously love, and once this happens)
  2. Will is now subject to Love (Love defines what the will wants to do)
  3. And then, the “will” will draw its very meaning and existence from “Love” itself. (in simple words – you forget if there was a will to start with).

It’s in this state that we think – Love is about a feeling, the Chemistry, the blind thing etc, etc. Most of the time, we forget, or rather get clouded that – it was a willful choice to like or love someone that has made Love supersede our will – and that’s when we start hearing things like – Love is Everything…and believe that it was love with made all things happen.

If we need to create the corollary to the above – I guess Love will never happen. Can “Love” force the “will” at step zero? Yup, is there ‘Love’ at step zero?

You don’t agree with me – Try ‘loving’ someone you don’t like, and you never know when you fell into the Abyss. Scared? I bet we are!

However, does this mean that there is no place for the “laws of attraction”. Yes, there definitely is a place for them- but, what defines what we get attracted to – is still a rational outcome of our growing up impressions of ourselves and our views of how we would perceive our future. So, somewhere, sometime, deep within our cerebral hemispheres, we ‘willed” that, this kind of person will do me good – and when you seem one like that – voila – Love at fist sight!

Bottom line – it’s still an amazing thing to be loved, and to be in love. Will or no will, feelings or chemical reactions – it still beats the best of intelligence and wisdom – Like Solomon (The wisest man to live on Earth) said –

of the three things he does not seem to understand, one of it was
How can a Maiden can fall in love with a man?

My first reaction was, this is such a cold way to look at love! after reading it again, Man, the feeling i get is - your passions run very deep, and f*%&$@ sound logic. you must have made sure that there are no cracks to dent into.

Second - are you in love? I guess you really have a heart. You are not as heartless as your personna appears to be.

John - answer this for me.

I have experienced that it is possible to love somone you do not like. Where is the will in that? Where is the logic?

Or is love irreversible, irrational and illogical?
