Men - Phew!

Fertile Mind

It’s amazing how fast the human mind can think of so many possible variations in a nano second – and constructs such amazing (~ wicked) stories within a blink of an eye! It amazes even more, how the same mind, can quick freeze to “numb”, when one is switched off, and is not in the ‘mood’, or just does not want to think. What is it that state of disposition which controls how we think? Is thinking really voluntary? Or are we just always reacting to an ever changing environment - which essentially means, that if you place yourself in the right environment, you shall (or atleast your mind) shall flourish, and move to a sense of well being (the mind’s sense of well being ~ ala able to think in many different ways) What is that we really miss?- the mind not thinking in a hundred different ways, or , that we can’t get it to think the way we want a hundred times over ?

A tale of two generations

Image
The current generation speaks: I am spaced out guys (~ parents / married siblings), just wanna be alone for sometime, and look, I really don’t like those aunties, whose sole mission is to ‘settle’ me in life – I can take care of myself, and besides, I have seen about a quarter century of life too.. Just curious, do you guys really think I am so stupid, that I can’t take care of myself? Just wonder, I am the same one you flaunt off, of the nice kewl education, great job, and a reputed company that trusts a few Million $ to my decision! Phew! Does that sound like the story of every guy/girl in her twenties, whose only sin, is that they are young? Being young means, you are prone to irrational decisions, raging hormones that screw your head, and every one except you (or your other friends in their twenties who are single) knows what to do! That’s the generation I relate to, cos I am in my twenties, and see being fixed up, with every potential girl at any family function (or) am the topic

Experience

Rather pensive about this ‘experience” thing in life in general, at work in some specificity, about relationships with curiosity, and in thought philosophically. Intriguing that this is one word, we use so very often, without any real thought. The sad part is that, each of those instances create another experience, and takes us a step (deeper, higher, lower??) further on the ‘experience’ pathway. Quoting Immanuel Kant.. Experience is no doubt the first product of our understanding, while employed in fashioning the raw material of our sensations. It is therefore our first instruction, and in its progress so rich in new lessons that the chain of all future generations will never be in want of new information that may be gathered on that field. Nevertheless, experience is by no means the only field to which our understanding can be confined. Experience tells us what is, but not that it must be necessarily as it is, and not otherwise. It therefore never gives us any really general truths,

Winds of Change 2

I am the ‘Whirlwind’ storming and free Swirl the wind in my palm; a desire! Crossing paths that do a ravage spree Hold up the wind? Blow an ire? Should I hold up, should I blow? Either is my identity, along any flow Is there ever calm for a whirlwind Heard I that, there is one In the eye of the whirlwind Calm, only if in the center, there is one Gentle is the breeze for one I love Whirlwind still a force, humbly bow Blown, rested, stormed, soothed Long I for calm, and welcomed love Calmed, not subdued, but soothed Whirlwind, I am, forever and now

Winds of Change.........

I folow the Moskva Down to Gorky Park Listening to the wind of change An August summer night Soldiers passing by Listening to the wind of change The world is closing in Did you ever think That we could be so close, like brothers The future's in the air I can feel it everywhere Blowing with the wind of change Take me to the magic of the moment On a glory night Where the children of tomorrow dream away in the wind of change Walking down the street Distant memories Are buried in the past forever I folow the Moskva Down to Gorky Park Listening to the wind of change Take me to the magic of the moment On a glory night Where the children of tomorrow share their dreams With you and me Take me to the magic of the moment On a glory night Where the children of tomorrow dream away in the wind of change The wind of change Blows straight into the face of time Like a stormwind that will ring the freedom bell For peace of mind Let your balalaika sing What my guitar wants to say Take me to the magi

The Space Shuttle and the Horse's Rear End

Say friend, did you know that the US Standard railroad gauge (distance between the rails) is 4 feet, 8 1/2 inches. That's an exceedingly odd number. Why was that gauge used? Because that's the way they built them in England, and the US railroads were built by English expatriates. I see, but why did the English build them like that? Because the first railway lines were built by the same people who built the pre-railroad tramways, and that's the gauge they used. Well, why did they use that gauge in England? Because the people who built the tramways used the same jigs and tools that they used for building wagons, which used that wheel spacing. Okay! Why did their wagons use that odd wheel spacing? Because, if they tried to use any other spacing the wagon wheels would break on some of the old, long distance roads. Because that's the spacing of the old wheel ruts. So who built these old rutted roads? The first long distance roads in Europe were built by Imperial Rome fo

sweet and bitter

If you find honey, eat just enough, too much of it, and you will vomit. ~ Proverbs 25:16 Some of the best things in life are sweet, but one needs to make sure that, we do not indulge to an extent, that you will get ill, and sweet feels bitter.

Living by external validation

Why is that, a good lot, live by the norm, that they, their actions, their self-worth need to be validated by an external source? For a good long time, I believed that this is a phase every one goes through at some point of time, and to some extent. I was right till I discovered a complete set of people, who define their very 'existence by validation'. Now that set me thinking, hmm.. WHY ? and this is what I realize - most people who exist (ya not live) by the external validation syndrome, are people who could never really accept themselves for what they are - Leave alone the world, they can't accept themselves the way they are. What appears as a defense mechanism, to give a boost to the self (~ validation), sometimes (or most times) mutates these people into, defining themselves by what they are not. The moment I define myself by what I am not, I am left with really nothing to define myself by what I am really am, and the reason being, there would not be left too many thi
